First Credit Union in the Nation to Offer Account Linking and Management Functionality
October 4, 2017 – Scarborough, ME – Town & Country Federal Credit Union announced today it has released a Town & Country skill for Alexa, Amazon’s cloud-based voice service. The Town & Country skill allows members to securely access their personal account information using Amazon Alexa-enabled devices.
Town & Country is the first credit union and among the first banks in the country to introduce a skill for Alexa with account linking and management functionality. Members will now be able to access their checking account balance, monitor their spending or find other information such as the credit union’s routing number through any Amazon® Alexa-enabled device including Echo, Dot, Tap, Show and the new Spot.
Town & Country created its skill for Alexa to help simplify and add value to member’s busy lives. “With growing consumer interest in voice-activated technology, particularly using Amazon’s Alexa, Town & Country’s skill will make it easy and convenient for our members to access their account information with simple voice commands such as “Alexa, open Town & Country,” said David Libby, Town & Country’s President & CEO. “With Town & Country’s new Alexa Skill, members can now stay on top of their finances just by asking Alexa,” said Libby.
Town & Country collaborated with Digital Insight, an NCR company and leader in digital banking solutions, to develop its new skill for Alexa. “We wanted to work with an innovative company at the forefront of technology who not only had the ability to develop the skill, but could offer a secure connection between the credit union and the Amazon Alexa”, said Libby.
The Town & Country skill for Alexa is easier than using the app on a mobile device. It is the perfect tool for busy consumers. Users can ask Alexa to check their account balances while getting ready for the day or when making dinner at night. The skill can also be helpful for people with vision issues to take care of their banking just by asking Alexa.
Town & Country will continue to expand upon it new Alexa Skill in the months ahead.
