Do you have a great gift idea for the holidays? Are you hosting an event, a craft show or special sale? Let us know about it!  We will be publishing the 2nd annual Scarborough Holiday Guide. If you would like to include your holiday events, specials, discounts or gift ideas in the Scarborough guide, please send the text information and photos to hello@sedcomaine.com or research@sedcomaine.com by November 4, 2016.

There is no cost to participate and the guide will be available to view on the SEDCO, Scarborough Community Chamber of Commerce and Buy Local websites. We will also be promoting the guide in the Town’s newsletter so the residents can use it as resource throughout the holiday season.

 

 

SEDCO Announced Outstanding Business Awards for 2016

SCARBOROUGH, MAINE (October 4, 2016) – The Scarborough Economic Development Corporation’s (SEDCO’s) Board of Directors announced the recipients of this year’s Outstanding Scarborough Business awards. The awards were presented at the corporation’s 31st Annual Meeting, which took place at the Black Point Inn on October 4, 2016 from 5:30pm to 7:30pm.

The 2016 Outstanding Scarborough Businesses included:

Salt Pump Climbing Company: Project of the Year

Pierce Furniture: Outstanding Legacy Business

Mainely Tubs: Outstanding Small Business

On the Vine Marketplace: Outstanding New Business

“It’s a pleasure to once again recognize outstanding businesses in Scarborough,” said Kevin Freeman, SEDCO Board Chair. “The Scarborough business community is so vibrant, that it is a real challenge to narrow the field down to just four businesses. Each one of the businesses and their employees have made a difference in Scarborough this year.”

“The SEDCO annual meeting celebrates the energy and creativity of businesses in Scarborough,” said Karen Martin, SEDCO executive director. “It’s our way of thanking our businesses for choosing Scarborough and contributing to the community.”

The annual meeting program also featured Mike Vail, President of Hannaford Supermarkets, as the keynote speaker.  Hannaford is the Town’s largest private employer and is one the state’s largest employers.

Sponsors for the event included Hannaford, as the lead sponsor of the event and Martin’s Point Health Care as the Gold Sponsor. Silver Sponsors included Bangor Savings Bank, Biddeford Savings, cPort Credit Union, Gawron Turgeon Architects, People’s United Bank, Pine Tree Waste and Piper Shores.
